The Best Way to taste wine
Even though you can't drink wine yet, knowing how to taste it properly is a cool skill for your future! Here's how the experts do it in simple steps:
- Look at the Color
Hold the glass against a white background and check out the color. Is it purple, ruby red, or golden? The color can tell you about the wine's age and type.
- Swirl It Around
Gently swirl the wine in the glass. This releases aromas and lets you see how the wine 'legs' (drops) run down the glass.
- Smell It
Put your nose right in the glass and take three quick sniffs. Try to identify familiar smells like fruits, flowers, or spices.
- Taste It (When You're Old Enough)
Take a small sip and let it coat your tongue. Notice if it's sweet, sour, or bitter. Is it light or heavy?
