The Best Way to make yogurt
Making yogurt at home is super easy and way cheaper than buying it from the store! Here's how to do it:
What You'll Need:
- 4 cups (1 quart) whole milk
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt with active cultures
- Large pot
- Thermometer
- Clean jars
Steps:
- Heat milk in a pot until it reaches 180°F (82°C)
- Let it cool to 110-115°F (43-46°C)
- Stir in the plain yogurt
- Pour into clean jars
- Keep warm for 4-8 hours (use an Instant Pot, oven with light on, or wrapped in towels)
- Refrigerate when done!
Your yogurt will last about 2 weeks in the fridge. Each time you make a new batch, you can use some of your homemade yogurt as the starter!
Pro tip: For thicker yogurt, strain it through cheesecloth after it's done.
