Making sushi is actually pretty fun and not as hard as you might think! Here's how to make basic sushi rolls:
What You'll Need:
- Sushi rice
- Nori (seaweed sheets)
- Rice vinegar
- Sugar
- Salt
- Bamboo rolling mat
- Your favorite fillings (like cucumber, avocado, or cooked fish)
Steps:
- Cook sushi rice according to package directions
- Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl (2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt)
- Once rice is cooked, spread it out and pour the vinegar mixture over it. Fan it while mixing gently.
- Place nori on bamboo mat
- Spread rice evenly on nori, leaving 1 inch empty at the top
- Add your fillings in a line across the middle
- Using the mat, roll everything up tightly
- Cut into 6-8 pieces with a wet, sharp knife
