What You'll Need:

  • Sushi rice
  • Nori (seaweed sheets)
  • Rice vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Bamboo rolling mat
  • Your favorite fillings (like cucumber, avocado, or cooked fish)

Steps:

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package directions
  2. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl (2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt)
  3. Once rice is cooked, spread it out and pour the vinegar mixture over it. Fan it while mixing gently.
  4. Place nori on bamboo mat
  5. Spread rice evenly on nori, leaving 1 inch empty at the top
  6. Add your fillings in a line across the middle
  7. Using the mat, roll everything up tightly
  8. Cut into 6-8 pieces with a wet, sharp knife
