Here's how to feel better when you have strep throat:

  • Take your antibiotics - Make sure you finish ALL of them, even if you start feeling better. This usually means taking them for 10 days.
  • Get lots of rest - Your body needs extra sleep to fight the infection.
  • Drink plenty of fluids - Water, warm tea with honey, and soup will help your throat feel better.
  • Try throat lozenges - They can help with the pain (just don't take too many!).
  • Gargle with salt water - Mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt with warm water and gargle for 30 seconds.
  • Use pain relievers - Tylenol or ibuprofen can help with throat pain and fever.

Important: You should start feeling better within 48 hours of starting antibiotics. If you don't, tell your parents and doctor!
