The Best Way to care for hamsters

Hey there! So you want to learn about taking care of hamsters? Here's everything you need to know to be an awesome hamster parent!

The Basic Stuff You'll Need:

  • A cage that's at least 450 square inches of floor space
  • Fresh water in a bottle or bowl
  • Hamster food (store-bought pellets work great)
  • Bedding (paper-based is best)
  • Exercise wheel (at least 8 inches for dwarf hamsters, 12 inches for Syrian hamsters)
  • Hide-outs and toys

Daily Care:

  • Give fresh water every day
  • Feed about 2 tablespoons of food daily
  • Check if their cage is clean
  • Spend time with them (but during evening hours when they're awake!)

Weekly Care:

  • Clean the cage completely
  • Replace all bedding
  • Wash their toys and wheel
  • Check their food supply

Cool Tips:

  • Never wake up your hamster - they're most active at night
  • Give them safe treats like small pieces of apple or carrot
  • Keep their cage away from direct sunlight
  • Keep the room temperature between 65-75°F
