What You'll Need:
- 1 SCOBY (you can get this from a friend or buy online)
- 8 tea bags (black or green tea)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 gallon clean water
- 1 large glass jar
- Clean cloth or coffee filter
- Rubber band
Steps:
- Boil 4 cups of water
- Add tea bags and sugar, let steep for 15 minutes
- Remove tea bags and let cool completely
- Pour into your glass jar and add remaining water
- Add your SCOBY and 1 cup of starter tea (previously made kombucha)
- Cover with cloth and secure with rubber band
- Let sit in a dark place at room temperature for 7-10 days
- Taste test after a week - if too sweet, let it ferment longer
