The Best Way to brew kombucha

Making kombucha is like having a cool science experiment in your kitchen! Here's how to do it:

What You'll Need:

  • 1 SCOBY (you can get this from a friend or buy online)
  • 8 tea bags (black or green tea)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 gallon clean water
  • 1 large glass jar
  • Clean cloth or coffee filter
  • Rubber band

Steps:

  1. Boil 4 cups of water
  2. Add tea bags and sugar, let steep for 15 minutes
  3. Remove tea bags and let cool completely
  4. Pour into your glass jar and add remaining water
  5. Add your SCOBY and 1 cup of starter tea (previously made kombucha)
  6. Cover with cloth and secure with rubber band
  7. Let sit in a dark place at room temperature for 7-10 days
  8. Taste test after a week - if too sweet, let it ferment longer
